JDS Group Environment/Social Justice Policies

Environmental Policies and Practices

At no other time in the Earth’s existence have both human life and nature been so substantially and fundamentally threatened in terms of their very survival. No longer speculative, but an unequivocal fact as documented by scores of global scientists in
www.ipcc.ch, global warming is a substantiated reality caused by human endeavors related to the market economy and industrialization.

It thus behoves us all to do our utmost, in both our work and personal lives to reduce the impact of our ecological footprint. This is not only an issue of human responsibility but also a moral and spiritual imperative. Towards this end, we must all think and act in accordance with the adage of “thinking globally and acting locally”. This following policy statement and set of practices represents our companies’ (
JDS Associates, RREES Inc. & CFCAA) commitment to playing our collective role in addressing this humanity caused problem and assault of the Earth’s sanctity. The broad categories encompassing our policies are as follows:

         A. Provision of Suzuki Foundation Membership to Staff

         B. Existing/Ongoing Recycling Program

         C. Existing/Ongoing Paper Conservation/Recycled Paper Content Use Efforts

         D. Initiation of Bullfrog Electricity Incentive Program

         E. Public Transit Promotion

         F. Carbon Neutral Program – in planning phase

Social Justice Practices

Through their affiliation with the
Centre for Family, Child and Adolescent Advancement, JDS Associates and RREES Inc. are committed to contributing to the social justice movement: to fight the effects of poverty; to rehabilitate the broad effects of fetal alcohol spectrum disorders and their related impacts on individuals, families and society; to address the socio-emotional needs of marginalized, at risk, and disabled individuals, children and families; and to promote and support the strengthening of indigenous cultures and values. Due to the inherent traditional environmental integrity of such cultures, their rejuvenation is viewed as integral to successful global sustainability. These social justice objectives shall be promoted through pro-bono service support, financial support and research and development initiatives in concert with CFCAA and related endeavors. Staff/consultants are welcome and encouraged to participate in these volunteer initiatives.
