Robert Brown

Robert Brown has been a Licensed Driving Instructor (DI) since 1980 and has been an Advanced Instructor (AI) and road safety consultant and driver training specialist since 1985. From 1982 to 1995, Mr. Brown owned and operated a major driving school in the City of Toronto and Mississauga where he designed and conducted driver training courses for new and experienced drivers. Mr. Brown was an elected member of the Driving School Association of Ontario where he held various executive and board positions from 1986 to 1994. In 1989, Mr. Brown helped to develop a comprehensive Ontario College qualifying course/career path for driving instructors, advanced instructors, chief instructors and driving school owners and helped to introduce a bill to put the program into law in the Ontario Legislature. From 1992 to 1998, Mr. Brown designed, conducted and consulted on safe, effective driving with major multi national corporations. He helped to design and implement a collision history diagnosis system and various driver measurement tools. Mr. Brown designed and prepared customized driver training programs to target the need of specific groups of drivers in a corporate setting.

In 1990, Mr. Brown was called upon by various rehabilitation centres and doctors to help develop a driver, passenger and pedestrian re-integration program. Since 1990 Mr. Brown has been actively developing comprehensive driver competency assessments and advanced “customized” driver re-integration programs for individuals in a medical/rehabilitation setting. Mr. Brown is currently most active as a driving coach for individuals who have been involved in collisions (drivers, passengers, pedestrians and cyclists) and who have developed driver/traffic related fear, anxiety and avoidance behaviour. Furthermore, Mr. Brown has been called upon by numerous insurers, neuropsychologists, occupational therapists, lawyers and claimant case managers to provide comprehensive driver competency assessments and customized training/treatment for clients who have been deemed catastrophic and may have an acquired brain injury/cognitive impairment. Mr. Brown was formerly an approved DAC assessor by the Financial Services Commission of Ontario. He also conducts I.E. assessments and file reviews.
